REMEMBERING THE FIRST WORLD WAR: FRONT LINE

This special Queen Mary exhibition marks the centenary of the outbreak of World War One in 1914.

From 2014 to 2018, across the world, nations, communities and individuals of all ages will come together to mark, commemorate and remember the lives of those who lived, fought and died in the First World War.

This exhibition explores the human experience of the First World War. The war claimed the lives of over 16 million people across the globe. It has been called the first real instance of total war.

Archives materials have been brought together in Remembering the First World War to recount British and German wartime experiences, on the front line. Highlights include postcards and letters to relatives at home send from serving British and German soldiers, accounts of war time experiences, and instructions to troops.
