The People's Palace Children's Fancy Dress Ball 1925

Here are a few memories of festive celebrations at Queen Mary from the Ghost of Christmas Past...

28th December 1925 a Children’s Fancy Dress Ball was held at the People’s Palace. Prizes were awarded for dancing the waltz and the foxtrot, and for the best fancy dress costume. A ‘Special Committee’ judged the competitors and cautioned them that their decisions were final.

Library books on shelf

We've been reviewing our loans, fines, holds and renewal policies to make accessing Library books more straightforward and to improve availability of items which are in high-demand. From January 2012, we will be increasing the number of One Week Loans you can borrow, removing the limit on the number of times you can renew One Week Loan and Ordinary Loan items and reducing the length of time we keep holds awaiting collection. Further details about these changes follow:

Queen Mary Library Service has just added Elsevier's SciVerse Scopus database to its collection of resources.  Scopus is a multi-disciplinary database covering journal articles, book series, patents and websites in humanities & social sciences, medicine and science.  The database also features citation count and journal analyzer functionality to assist with research evaluation activities.

Access is available on and off-campus, with off-campus access managed through Institutional Login.

Articles Search logo

Articles Search, introduced last March, is proving more and more popular as a way of finding the journal articles you need.

Articles Search lets you search for articles in many journals and databases in a single search, and then go straight to the full-text if the Library subscribes to the resource. Log in to get the best access to these resources. More information about Articles Search is available here.

Almost 13,000 searches were made using Articles Search during November. The most popular search terms were international marketing, Kurdistan and globalization.
