Electrical Works at Mile End Library

7 October 2019


As part of the final phase of the Mile End Library Infrastructure Project, a series of electrical works will be carried out in the library between Monday 7th October and Friday 8th November.

Our contractors will do their best to minimise disruption by working mainly in the early hours of the day, however, there will be some impact on the reading rooms’ environment as shown in the table below.

Monday 7th October

1st floor central corridor between North and South Reading Rooms

Noisy work will be carried out on the electrical boards on the between 6am and 8am. These works may also cause intermittent power outage to sockets.

Weekend of 12th-13th October

6am-4pm

1st Floor North Reading Room

Works on the electrical boards will cause a partial loss of lighting between 6am and 8am.

Week beginning

Monday 14th October

6am-4pm

1st Floor South Reading Room

Noisy work will affect the area between 6am and 8am.

 

Thursday 17th October

6am-4pm

2nd Floor central corridor between North and South Reading Rooms

Intermittent power outage to sockets will occur between 6am and 8am.

 

Weekend of 19th – 20th October

6am-4pm

1st floor central riser

 

 

Ground Floor – Accessible Door

Partial loss of lighting between 6am and 8am.

 

Due to the installation of heated curtain heaters the accessible door will be closed over the weekend 6am-4pm.

 

Alternative accessible route will be in place.

 

 

Weekend of 26th-27th October

6am-4pm

2nd Floor North Reading Room

Works to the North Reading Room electrical riser will cause some outage of lighting between 6am and 8am.

 

Week beginning

Monday 4th November

6am-4pm

1st floor North and South Reading Rooms

Installation of power poles to fit power supply on desks will cause some noise between 6am-8am, but no power loss is expected
