Staff and students of Queen Mary, University of London should comply with UK law when copying any works under copyright. These pages provide members of the College with practical guidance on copyright compliance. They are for information only and are in no way a statement of copyright law.
The College has a licence from the Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA). This allows staff to photocopy and scan articles for teaching:
- one whole chapter from a book
- one whole article from a journal issue or set of conference proceedings
- a short story or poem not exceeding 10 pages in length from an anthology
- one law case from a volume of judicial proceedings
or 10% of any of the above, whichever is the greater
The CLA licence does not cover all countries or all publishers. In particular, please note that not all US publishers are covered.
