SCONUL Access (Non-Queen Mary users)

Students studying on the second floor, Mile End Library

Students and staff from universities that are part of the SCONUL Access scheme are eligible for access.

To apply please complete the SCONUL application form.

We will process your application and prepare your SCONUL card within 7 days. Cards must be collected during staffed hours.

On day of collection please remember to bring with you:

  1. The SCONUL confirmation email from your home university
  2. A valid form of photographic ID (passport, driving licence etc.)

Please remember that without these documents no cards will be issued.  

SCONUL Bands A, B and C members are allowed to borrow up to 6 books and access the library anytime. Access is restricted during exam periods.

SCONUL Band R members are not able to borrow books. Access to the Mile End Library during term time is restricted to 'off-peak' hours (Monday to Sunday 18:00-00:00 and weekends). Access is restricted during exam periods.

Please note:

  • SCONUL members do not have access to PCs, electronic resources or the Queen Mary Wi-Fi network
  • We reserve the right to restrict access during exam periods
  • SCONUL bands are as follows:
    • Band A: Staff and postgraduate research students
    • Band B: Part-time, distance learning and placement students
    • C: Postgraduate taught students
    • Band R: Undergraduate students
